This final edition is not meant to be a quiet farewell – but a celebration for everyone who has been part of this journey.

And it will be a Big Bang Farewell with the organization of the

 

My SwimRun World Championships Marathon

 

We want to dive in with you one last time – into the adventure, the silence of the lake, and the power of the competition.

1. Highlights 2026

  • New course layout with 50% entirely new sections for the marathon distance
  • Get-together on June 27 with Parade of Nations and Race Briefing
  • Presentation of top favorites
  • All 5-time SwimRun participants get a free entry of their choice (please contact: office@openwaterserie.com)
  • All marathon winners – hence Knights and Dames of Ottenstein – receive a 21% discount (please contact: office@openwaterserie.com)
  • Big raffle after the marathon award ceremony
  • We’ll design a special cult T-shirt, available to order in individual sizes at a special price
  • In the coming months, we’ll promote some anecdote stories – with lots of prizes to win

2. Course Characteristics

  • Longest swim: 1,100 m
  • Longest run: 5,200 m
  • Total swim: 6,600 m
  • Total run: 26.6 km
  • Total distance: 33.2 km
  • Elevation gain: approx. 800 m

3. Event Schedule

Friday, June 26

  • General Race Briefing on location & travel: 5:00 PM via Facebook livestream (available later as a video)

Saturday, June 27

  • Registration: 6:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Parade of Nations followed by Race Briefing: 7:00 PM

Sunday, June 28

  • Marathon Registration: 8:00 – 8:45 AM
  • Race Start: 9:00 AM
  • Finish line opens: From 1:00 PM
  • Buffet starts at 12:00 PM (Half & Full Marathon – with voucher)
  • Award Ceremony: Approx. 3:30 PM
  • Knighting Ceremony

4. Competition Categories

My SwimRun World Championships

Team

  • Teams will be ranked as male / female / mixed
  • Additional ranking based on combined age:
    • Up to 89
    • 90+

Solo

  • Male / Female:
    • Ages 16–39
    • Ages 40+

 

Regular Race: Simple scoring based on the number of participants

 

Note: Registration for the World Championships

Both qualified and non-qualified participants can take part.

Both qualified participants and regular starters register using the same link.

·       Before the race, we will separate the scoring into World Championships participants and the regular race.

·       In addition to the qualified participants, local German-speaking participants are also eligible for scoring in the World Championships.

 


5. Notes

  • Water temperature: Lake Ottenstein is usually between 23–25°C.
    • Current info & gear guidelines will be published at least one week before the race.
  • Marking: Due to occasional removal of trail markers, we will use triple marking:
    • Ribbons
    • Ground markings
    • Signage

Important:
There is one cut-off point on the marathon route, based on previous participants' slowest times.
This will be announced in advance.

  • 6 aid stations in total, with:
    • Water, isotonic drinks, some with carbs and salty snacks.

  • €195 (until Dec 31)
  • €215 (until Mar 15)
  • €235 (until May 31)
  • €255 (until Jun 26)
  • + €10 late fee per person from Jun 27 onward

SwimRun Marathon – Solo

  • €115 (until Dec 31)
  • €125 (until Mar 15)
  • €135 (until May 31)
  • €145 (until Jun 26)
  • + €10 late fee from Jun 27 onward
